Kiev challenges Moscow in WTO over carriage, rail switch imports
KIEV, Oct 21 (PRIME) -- Kiev has submitted the first claim against Russia for limiting imports of carriages and railroad switches to the World Trade Organization (WTO), trade representative Natalya Nikolskaya said at a briefing on Wednesday.
“This morning Ukraine has filed the first claim against Russia because of curbs imposed on Ukrainian carriages and railroad switches to the World Trade Organization. This is a first claim in a range, which we have prepared and are preparing,” she said.
According to the trade representative, Russia has limited imports of the Ukrainian railway carriages, produced at Kryukov Railway Car Building Works, Dnepropetrovsky Strelotchny Zavod, Azovobshchemash and Kharkiv Machine-Building Plant, unreasonably since 2013.
Kiev expects that the countries will settle the dispute amicably during consultations to be held during 30 days after the claim has been filed.
